Whissell is looking for a committed individual to support Whissell’s vision, mission, and S.P.I.R.I.T. of values, and recognize that the Equipment Manager has a direct impact on the company’s overall financial success. Key Responsibilities: Effective and efficient operation, maintenance and repairs for equipment and vehicles for the Edmonton region Oversee the operations of the Leduc shop, shop foreman, purchaser, all mechanics and support staff, including the recruitment and performance management for employees Mentor and coach direct reports to develop their skill sets, including bi-annual performance reviews Assist with budget preparation, reconciliation and reporting for annual equipment repair and Life Cycle costing Purchase, rental and repair of small tools, equipment and gear for field support Daily servicing and fueling of equipment Review equipment requirements and allocations with field support to ensure appropriate utilization Purchase and inventory control of associated equipment parts and supplies for the Edmonton region Develop and manage a Commercial Vehicle Facility Inspection program for the Leduc shop Assist with equipment acquisitions, leases, rentals and disposals Coordinate with the Director of Equipment to optimize corporate equipment goals including, but not limited to: maximize equipment utilization; minimize costs between regions; maximize warranty repair program Assist in the negotiation with suppliers ensuring integration with corporate negotiations Manage the Leduc facility and yard Ensure compliance with OH&S regulations and company safety policies Review all near-miss and incidences and assist in developing new policies and procedures to prevent reoccurrence
Red Seal Journeyman Heavy Duty Mechanic Minimum 10 years on tools and 5 years in equipment management Experience with field support for underground utility construction an asset
